Services

Services, addressing needs of those living in underdeveloped and poor areas, are of extreme importance. Unfortunately, most of the services provided in such areas are not up to the standard or non-functional altogether.

Based on needs assessment, beneficiaries in El Darb El Ahmar suggested services that needed upgrade and development. Takatof, consequently, embarked on several service projects that affect the whole family and the community including a clinic and a youth club.

El Darb El Ahmar Youth Club

The Youth Club was established as a cultural, social and athletic club in 1985 in affiliation with the Ministry of Social Affairs, several national and international athletes in weightlifting, bodybuilding, wrestling and boxing were members of the club. As the Association has been serving the residents of El Darb El Ahmar through the upgrade of (4) schools in the area, Takatof responded to the request from the club's board in order to create a genuine partnership between the educational and the sporting institutions to educate the area’s youth both physically and mentally.

Since the Association works on a needs’ assessment basis, and due to the poor condition of the quintet field structural condition and its importance to the club; Takatof Association, with the participation of the Youth Club’s board of directors, upgraded the field to internationally approved specifications.

It is worth mentioning that the club has (2010) members, mostly residents of El Darb El Ahmar, and that the upgraded sports field serves nearly (4000) athletes per year, in addition to the activities and competitions involving the surrounding schools under the supervision of the Educational Administration.

The upgrade was achieved through a partnership between the youth club and the Association, where the club contributed with 25% of the cost and the Association covered the remaining amount.

Teachers’ Syndicate Clinic

The Teachers’ Syndicate Clinic of El-Darb El-Ahmar serves around 3,000 teachers. At the time Takatof started working in the area, most of the specializations of the Clinic were closed because of the decline in infrastructure and lack of resources.

Believing in the importance of adequate health care for teachers, and based on the Syndicate’s and the teachers’ request, the Association reopened the general clinic and upgraded it.

Takatof renovated the infrastructure of the building, covered the walls with ceramic and extended water pipelines to the clinics.
It also refurbished the building and provided the clinics with the necessary medical and diagnostic equipment.

Based on needs’ assessment conducted with the teachers, the clinics were extended to six different specializations instead of two.

Om El Moemenin Clinic for Students in El Sayeda Zeinab – Cairo

Takatof Association for Development upgraded Om El Moemenin Clinic for Students, fully funded by ABB with a total fund of 200,000 LE for upgrade and furnishing.
The clinic, affiliated to the Health Insurance General Authority, is annexed to Om El Moemenin Preparatory School for Girls located in El Sayeda Zeinab in Cairo and serves 16,400 students from all the district’s schools. Takatof dedicated separate entrance to the clinic from a side street in order to make it independent from the school.
